Ink Flight #2 Reveal

G'day mates! This month we travel to the Land Down Under to bring you our next Ink Flight samples for March 2017. We reached out across oceans to get in touch with Robert Oster Signature. The Australian-based ink maker is relatively new to the fountain pen ink scene but has quickly won the hearts of many pen enthusiasts.

From word of "nib" and seeing others post on social media about Mr. Oster's inks, it is easy to see why they have become so popular. The colors are beautifully vibrant and tasteful while exhibiting a degree of uniqueness through shading and sheen that make them stand out from the crowd.

Since Robert Oster is relatively new to the US market, we curated a selection of inks that contained some of his most well-known, as well as those that are new. 

Here is a run down of all the colors

Fire & Ice

The signature color of Robert Oster’s line, this remarkable, rich cerulean blue exhibits a fiery red sheen that is similar to J. Herbin’s Emerald of Chivor, or Sailor Jentle Yama-Dori.

Barossa Grape

The darkest color of this set, Barossa Grape is a dark, yet muted purple ink that might pass for a black at first glance. I had it in a fine point nib, but I would definitely like to try it in a stub or music nib to see if the color lightens up a bit.

Caffe Crema

Fancy a cup of joe while writing your morning reflection? Let the words spill out with this shading ink that has a slight green sheen. This ochre-cappuccino colored ink is one of my favorite brown inks for its high degree of shading and wetness.

Peppermint

Not just any old green, this ink has got a purplish sheen to go with its refreshing hue. Use in a stub, italic or nib with a wet flow for best results.

Direct Sun

Blaze your path across the wilderness of the blank page with this bright, pinkish red color that carries a moderate amount of shading.

Yellow Sunset

Bright, cheery, yet drawing enough contrast to be seen clearly on white paper, Sunset Yellow ought to make you smile. On most high-quality papers, it seems like the edges of the letters develop an orange edge, which helps make the writing stand out on the page.

BONUS Color - if you purchased either Ink Flight Box, you received a BONUS 7th sample, which was Australian Sky. A beautiful azure sky blue with shading.
