Inktober 2018 Writing Prompts

The InkTober Initiative is the brainchild of artist / illustrator Jake Parker. The idea is to draw & ink a picture and post it on social media every day during the month of October. 31 days, 31 inked drawings.

Writers still use ink, albeit in a different way than a visual artist. So, starting in 2016, we at InkJournal came up with a new list of prompts that can be used for both writing and drawing during Inktober. The idea is to open this up to more folks to encourage the daily outlet of creativity and artistic expression.

This year, we're doing things a little differently. Every day during the month of October, let's put ink on paper, be creative and share it with the world. Use the prompt list below to follow each day. Incorporate all three words in the same sentence, writing it down in pen and ink. Be creative. Be funny. Be ironic. Share your written creation on social media (instagram and twitter). Tag us @inkjournal with our special hashtag #inktoberjournal

Because we love to stimulate creativity and get you excited to share your work, we'll be putting up a few prizes that include writing tools, inks, and goodies you would normally find in one of our monthly Ink Flight boxes. Post every day in Inktober, tag us, and you will be entered for a chance to win prizes from There are a limited number of prizes, so we will randomly pick from those that completed the challenge.
