Organics Studio and the Ink Flight Carry On

Welcome aboard inky travelers.

This is your captain speaking. I wanted to provide some additional information about the contents of this month's Ink Flight (October 2017).

Organics Studio has made waves in social media with the introduction of their "sheen monster" inks in Henry David Thoreau's Walden Pond Blue and Nitrogen Royal Blue. These inks are highly saturated, so the same precautions should be taken with these as you would when using a J. Herbin 1670 ink. Make sure to clean your pen out routinely and especially after having these inks loaded. Don't let the pen sit for more than 2 weeks with these inks, as it may cause flow issues.

Walden, Emerson Twilight Blue, and Nitrogen are supersaturated with loads of sheen, especially when you write with them on Tomoe River paper. If you've got one of our Tomoe Notebooks, you're set. They do take a while to dry and they may smear on certain papers.

Also, since they are so saturated, they tend to be "drier." Reading people's feedback online, it seems as though there is a simple fix if you find yourself with a pen that seemed to dry out with ink still in the pen. Lightly wet the nib either by licking your finger and touching the nib or dabbing it in water (there are other methods as well, of course). The moisture should jumpstart the flow again. Personally, I haven't noticed this yet, but I do see that if I leave my pen uncapped for a while with Nitrogen loaded in the pen, it can sometimes give me a hard start.

The Carry on Case

The box extra this month is our very own nylon InkJournal Carry On case. This nylon zipper case can be a great spot for your writing instruments, pencils, dip pens, fountain pens, etc that you take with you throughout your travels. At the very least, you can use it as a place where you can store all of your ink sample vials.

Why black & blue? We chose this colorway for the case because the most popular fountain pen inks happen to be either black or blue.

We also included a magnet you can put on your refrigerator that will hopefully get your creativity and sense of wonder primed and ready to take on the day.

Want the full bottle? Here's a coupon

Last month, we tried out a special coupon code to buy the full bottle after you received your Ink Flight samples. It seemed like it went over well, so we're continuing this month with a new coupon code. Now, please do keep in mind this code can be used on the inkjournal.com website ONLY and is not honored with the manufacturer directly.

Use the promo code

ORGANIC

to get 10% off the purchase of bottled ink at inkjournal.com. Expires 10/31/17 at 11:50pm.

We will be listing the Organics Studio bottled inks in the next week or so (we won't want to add them too early just in case people are looking at the site and spoil the surprise).

If you would like to order bottles of the ink before they go live, please feel free to contact us directly and we can sell you the bottles direct. We don't have a lot of stock, especially of the hot colors, so be sure to jump on this as soon as possible.

We hope you enjoy the contents of this month's Ink Flight. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to message us.
