Ink Flight #51 Reveal, April 2021

Surprise! We continued the tradition of the April Fool's Surprise Ink Flight for the third year running. So, I guess it's not much of a surprise anymore if you've been following the Ink Flight.

This month, we invited our Ink Flight Crew to use their keen ink detection skills to guess the brand and color names of each ink. We set up a google form to allow you to guess the inks based on the colors and the clues given for each color on the included sheet. In this post, see the revealed identities of the inks as well as the results of the guessing game.

Here is a rundown of April 2021's Ink Flight Colors. A total of 11 answered the challenge and only TWO got 100% correct!

Ink #1 - Monteverde California Teal
Clue: From the green mountains to the pacific, this teal ink puts you in a golden state of mind.
10/11 guessed correctly.

Ink #2 - Monteverde Kindness Pink
Clue: Mark Twain would say this pink ink is a color the blind can see.
8/11 guessed correctly.

Ink #3 - Colorverse Stars & Stripes
Clue: Oh say, can you see the sheen of this stellar blue ink?
10/11 guessed correctly.

Ink #4 - Colorverse Cotton Blue
Clue: No polyester here. Clothe your paper in this 100% heavenly blue ink.
8/11 guessed correctly.

Ink #5 - Colorverse Dark Energy
Clue: Hypothetically, this ink might be the cause of the Universe's rapid expansion.
9/11 guessed correctly.

Ink #6 - Graf von Faber-Castell Olive Green

4/11 guessed correctly.

Ink #7 - Graf von Faber-Castell Cognac Brown
Clue: After a long day, retire to the royal living quarters to enjoy a snifter of this spirited ink.
5/11 guessed correctly.

Congratulations to Amanda (@hellolovely) and Kristen (@lifeinspiresdesign) for both getting a perfect score on this test! Amazing job! You can tell by their instagram profiles that they are inky experts! They will both receive a FREE May Ink Flight Box! To everyone else, thank all for participating. Shall we continue it next year? Let us know your thoughts!

Box Extras: Sakae TP Tomoe River A6 Size Dotted Notebook

This paper is no joke. Manufactured in Japan by Sakae Technical Paper Co, LTD this month's box includes the official Tomoe River dot grid notebook. Tomoe River has a reputation as one of the best papers for fountain pens and you'll soon see why.

Fountain pens love the 160 smooth, lightweight 52gsm pages. The color vibrancy, sheen, and shading are more dramatic and appear vivid on the dotted white pages.

The 5mm dot grid is printed in subtle indigo that provides an unobtrusive backdrop for your creative musings. Record your currently inked pens, make ink splats, or as a half-size bullet journal.

This month's exclusive Ink Flight sticker is an homage to Rene Magritte's surrealist painting "The Treachery of Images." (1929) The sticker reads, "Ce n'est pas un stylo." or "This is not a pen."

Unfortunately, this week's virtual meetup did not go as planned. Due to family obligations thrown on last minute, I had to cancel the Zoom meet and couldn't reschedule it at the end of the month. Sorry, all! Now that the April #30inks30days is over, I'll have a little bit more time that I might decide to livestream and create some community activities.

Let's chat about this Flight

We invite you to join hundreds of kindred spirits in the Ink Flight Lounge Facebook Group to talk about this month's Flight Box. Likes? Dislikes? Favorite pairings? We'd love to read what you thought about the contents of this box. If you don't have/do Facebook, please feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Is #5 Dark Energy or Red Shift?

Laura

The photos show Red Shift? I thought it was Dark Energy.
