Ink Flight #65, June 2022

In February of 2022, Vinta introduced a new collection of inks called the "Fairytale Collection." With this in mind, we revisited the Vinta brand and featured three of these shimmering colors in June's Ink Flight

Made in the Philippines with the finest ingredients, each Vinta Ink is "obsessively designed and meticulously" mixed for use in fountain pens. Vinta donates a portion of each bottle sold to quality education for all Filipino children. Their latest "Fairytale collection" takes inspiration from the beloved Lola Basyang fairytales and children’s stories, written by Severino Reyes.

Here is a rundown of this month's ink color selection:

June 2022 Ink Flight Box #65 "Currently Inked" Color Selection

Vinta Leyte / Sea Kelp
This gentle green ink evokes the color of kelp as it floats in the bright clear seawaters of Leyte.

Vinta Perya / Blue Floss
This carnival-inspired blue has the sweet hue of cotton candy.

Vinta Damili / Terracotta
The color of red clay, Damili refers to traditional pottery.

Vinta Leyte / Sea Kelp
This gentle green ink evokes the color of kelp as it floats in the bright clear seawaters of Leyte.

Vinta Makopa / Malayan Apple
The Makopa is a bell-shaped fruit that grows in the Philippines and is known for its crisp pulp and mild flavor.

Vinta Pagtangi / Clouds of Gray
Pagtangi is a gray-toned ink with brown and purple nuances, flecked with a beautiful gold shimmer.

Vinta Lakbay / Sea & Sky
Lakbay is a light bluish teal, reminiscent of the sea. It is overlaid with an earthy red shimmer.

Vinta Lakambini / The Maiden
The fairytale-inspired color is a gorgeous pink with faint nuances of brown-purple, overlaid with a dazzling gold shimmer.

Tasting Notes: Here's a little "behind the scenes" story for you. I was up late at night, swatching the new Vinta inks at my dining room table. Sleep took hold with the last two colors. Drowsing with pen in hand, not only was my handwriting poor, the words I wrote made no sense! At least I had the newspaper down in case I accidentally wrote off the page or spilled an ink vial. It's embarrassing, as I take pride in my Col-O-Ring swatches and the calligraphy on them.

Box Extras: Nebula Note and Midori Sticky Notes

To best show the depth, vibrancy, and shimmer of your fountain pen ink, we "ink"-ourage you to use the included Nebula Note with Tomoe River paper. Write on 100 sheets of thin, 52gsm Japanese paper.

To help make the most of the blank pages, Nebula includes two guide sheets made of sturdy cardstock. Want to use it as a bullet journal for productivity? Use the dot grid. Swatching inks? Use the swatch card template. Practice handwriting? Use the slanted line card. The blank canvas is yours to fill with your art.

To add a note of whimsical fun to the everyday memo, Midori offers die-cut and translucent sticky notes. Each box includes a random selection of either the die-cut "forest" or "birds" design, or the translucent "leaf" pattern.

When using the notes, please make sure to slowly and carefully peel off the sticky note. It is not advisable to use water-based ink on the translucent sticker.

Show your flair for fountain pens and inks with the included Ink Flight button design. If you need, you may adjust the alignment of the button face by turning it while holding the safety pin back.
